How it works:

Fraternity Recruitment occurs at the beginning of each semester. Washington University does not permit freshmen to join a fraternity during their first semester, so fall recruitment is only available to upperclassmen. Spring recruitment, however, is open to all male students.

All students planning to attend formal recruitment must register with the Greek Life Office. Registration details will be available at each event. TKE and other fraternities will advertise our recruitment events via posters, our website, and word of mouth. Interested men may pick and choose the events they wish to attend until the end of Recruitment. Typically there is a period of about 1-2 weeks of open events where anyone can attend and then most fraternities have a week of closed events that are by invitation only. After events have stopped, TKE will extend invitations—called bids—to men we have chosen to begin our pledge process. A recruit may receive one bid or multiple bids to join different fraternities. There is a 24 hour no-contact period to give the potential new member some time to make his decision, after which the recruit may accept his bid to one fraternity.

*Washington University's Greek Life Office requires that all students participating in formal recruitment have at least 11 credit hours and have earned a minimum GPA of 2.5 to be eligible.
